Nov 27, 2011The terrible floods that strike Thailand have affected millions of lives. It naturally also affected the economy as a whole, and retail is no exception.In our research, we have been comparing 2 main promotion indicators for the Hypermarket, Supermarket and Personal Store Channels:
•The number of brochures published in October 2010 and 2011
•The number of promotion items offered to shopper in October 2010 and 2011
While some retailers have been drastically reducing their promotional activities (Tesco noticeably), it is interesting to see that other retailers reacted differently.
Beyond the promotional offer to shoppers, we have been impressed by the huge level of engagement of all major key players in the support of the communities where they are located. Bringing a light of hope in these terrible times, it tends to show – and this is only our opinion – that CSR policies are taken very seriously.
